Legal counsel for the decisions that stay with you

Pine Parlor Law is a deliberately small practice. You work with the same solicitor from the first conversation to the last signature, in language you can repeat to your family without a translator.

  • One named solicitor on your matter, start to finish.
  • Written scope and fee basis before any work begins.
  • Plain-English summaries after every meeting.

Practice areas

Four areas, handled properly

We keep a narrow practice on purpose. If your matter falls outside these areas, we will say so plainly at the first conversation rather than learn it on your time.

01

Wills & Estates

Drafting, reviewing and administering the documents that decide what happens next.

  • Wills and codicils
  • Powers of attorney
  • Estate administration
  • Trust formation
02

Property & Conveyancing

Buying, selling or leasing, with the title questions raised early rather than at signing.

  • Residential purchase and sale
  • Title and boundary review
  • Commercial leases
  • Easements and covenants
03

Business & Contracts

Agreements for small companies and sole traders, drafted to be read by the people signing them.

  • Company formation
  • Shareholder agreements
  • Supplier and client terms
  • Contract review
04

Family & Mediation

Separation and parenting arrangements, with mediation offered before litigation wherever it is workable.

  • Separation agreements
  • Parenting plans
  • Financial settlements
  • Facilitated mediation

How the work runs

No surprises, in three stages

Most people arrive unsure what legal work will cost them in money, time and attention. This is how a matter moves through the practice.

  1. 01

    The first conversation

You describe the situation; we tell you whether you need a solicitor at all, what the likely route is, and what it would involve. If it is not our area, we say so.

  2. 02

    A written plan

Before any billable work starts, you receive the scope, the sequence, the documents we need from you and the basis on which fees are charged — in one short letter.

  3. 03

    Steady representation

The same solicitor carries the matter through drafting, negotiation and signing, with a short plain-English note after each meaningful step so you always know where things stand.

The firm

A small practice, kept small

Pine Parlor Law was founded on the view that most legal problems are worsened by distance — between client and solicitor, and between advice and the words it arrives in. We take fewer matters so that each one is actually read.

  • Plain language first

If an explanation needs a second explanation, it was not finished.

  • Scope before fees

You approve what the work covers before it begins, in writing.

  • Fewer, closer matters

A deliberately limited caseload so nothing is handled at arm's length.

  • Resolution over escalation

Where a settled agreement serves you better than a contested one, we say so.

Questions

Asked before most first meetings

General information about how this practice works. It is not legal advice on your particular situation — that needs a conversation.

How are fees worked out?

Some matters suit a fixed fee, others an hourly basis. Which one applies to you, and what it covers, is set out in the written plan you receive before any chargeable work starts. You will not receive an invoice for work you did not agree to.

What should I bring to the first conversation?

Whatever you already have: correspondence, contracts, title documents, previous wills, or simply a written timeline of what happened. Nothing is required — a clear account of the situation is enough to begin.

How long does a matter usually take?

It depends far more on third parties — registries, lenders, the other side — than on us. At the planning stage you get an honest range rather than an optimistic date, and we tell you when something slips.

Do you take matters outside your four areas?

No. If your matter sits elsewhere, we will tell you at the first conversation and, where we can, point you towards the right kind of practitioner. We would rather lose the instruction than learn an unfamiliar area at your expense.

A short outline is enough to start. We read every enquiry ourselves.

Please keep it brief and avoid sending sensitive documents with a first enquiry.

Sending an enquiry does not create a solicitor–client relationship. That begins only once a written scope is agreed.
